Blessing Information Day (BID)

About the Blessing Information Day (BID)

The Blessing Information Day provides an environment for parents and young people to listen to talks and interviews about the matching and Blessing traditions in our community.  There is no expectation of any commitment to being matched or going to the Blessing.  It is an opportunity to find out about our tradition and different possibilities.

A great opportunity for both parents and young people

There is time to ask questions and listen to the experience of others who have been through the process.  Parents and young people may find it hard to initiate the conversation around matching and the Blessing.  Both sides often feel unsure about what to say or how to go about the process.  Because the day is always rich in content, tips and advice, BIDs are a helpful starting point for ongoing conversations.

Second Gen involvement

Second generation Blessed couples ran the day with 1st generation supporters.  In doing so, they share their own stories and answer questions openly and objectively.  They are a great source of advice and support for local BCs, who are going through the matching process or considering it.

Structure of the day

The day usually begins about 10 am and ends at 5 pm.  There are two lectures, the ‘Meaning and value of the Blessing’ and ‘Preparation for the Blessing’.  BFD Parents’ Matching and Blessing support couple, Chris and Carol Jubb share the valuable knowledge that they have gathered over the years of personal and public experience. Time is set aside for informal discussion and networking over refreshments.  Lunch is always provided.  Later in the day, there is usually a break-off session for open discussion groups  – and a panel to respond to any questions.
